Caspian Tern

The first and only record for the Warren was found on 27/7/04 by a visiting birdwatcher looking for Roseate Terns! The bird was found roosting in front of the hide with Oystercatcher at 12.20pm. It remained on site for less than two hours, flying off southwest along the spit at 14.10pm. Despite its brief stay, the lunchtime arrival allowed over 30 people were able to catch up with this bird, only the second for Devon, the previous record was on the Axe estuary in 1966, 38 years previously.
